West jet video
Well if the employees at the titans school store worked with passion and enthusiasm as the employees of westjest did they would be a lot more effective at selling things. They treat it as something boring but if they acted like they enjoyed it then i think the customer moral would be higher.

What I learned about marketing from physics class.
The Speaker likened 3 physics laws to marketing. Newtons Law of Acceleration equals Force over mass. He likened it to the more massive the brand the harder it is to change directions. The second one was that you can't measure a particle accurately, He likened it to try to measure what consumers actually do rather than what they say they do. The third was that you can amass all the data you can but you can't prove a hypothesis but one piece of data can disprove it. No matter how must you invest in a brand it only takes one bad mistake to ruin all of your company's credibility.

Opening Assignment November 17/11
Well the managing is going alright, I'm definitely still new at this but I think that I can definitely keep doing this. My mom is a great motivator and manager in life, partly because she works in a position where she has lead over a team, and partly because she has been parenting for sixteen years so she has experience at it. She is patient but she doesn't take crap excuses. She is respectful to those under her and in that way she earns their respect. She is also a hard worker herself. I think by just using those three things I can become a better manager for my company.

I'm not sure if this counts, but I'm gonna roll with it. Microsoft's failure of an mp3 player the Zune. I'm not sure if there really was a time that people wanted a Zune to be completely honest. But i know for a fact that no one wants to buy one now. Microsoft made a mistake trying to make a product to match apple's iPod. It actually made the iPod look more desirable to consumers. There isn't really anything that I can offer to Microsoft to save this product in the form of advice. The product is dead. Give up and stick to computers and video games.

This it's a pretty cool product. It offers a wide range of customization to the pages. You can customize the background with a great selection, you can customize the size of your pictures and create things like captions and speech bubbles as well. I like the fact that you can get your pictures from Facebook but i was disappointed at the fact that it wasn't working when i used it. I didn't really see any faults to the product when i used it or hey are just not coming to mind. This will appeal to the students in our school, especially grade twelve students. Well we are talking about marketing right now.

Ads
My favourite ad must be the Dos Equis ads featuring the "most interesting man in the world". They make me laugh and it is such a catchy ad that stays with you, their slogan is great and the character is great. The Dairy Queen ads of late have been really bad in my opinion, they seem to have ripped off the idea that worked so well for old spice. I am uninterested and kind of turned off DQ when i see these ads.

I think Product placement is a really effective way to market your product. People follow what celebrities do, what they wear what they eat. So of course they will try out the product if their favourite celebrity has it. My favourite guerilla marketing idea would definitely have to be the volkswagen ad with the slide, what a genius idea, let people ride down a slide and have fun, while marketing your brand. Without a doubt I'm sure it was really successful. I also thought the nike ad with putting shoes on tires is a really good idea too.

I believe that the information is true for other businesses but i don't rea;;y see how it applies to a coffee shop in the school, it makes sense for a clothing brand or and electronics company. It even makes sense for a coffee company like tim hortons or star bucks but i just don't see how it would affect my business, its pretty clear cut, coffee at the school in the mornings for a good price and for good quality. I don't really think that we have time to change everything to adapt to gen y. But i still think the concept is interesting.

I suppose that it is possible that a business can be solvent and non profitable, but only under certain conditions. Solvency is being able to pay your debts when you need to. So in order for a business to be solvent but not profitable it must break even and just even. You can't have any less or anymore money. Like i said this only happens in certain situations.

Old spice probably had the best ads. Just the way they were written and presented was phenomenal. The actor had amazing charisma. Everyone knows those ads and that is the reason old spice is really popular again. I din;t really have a favourite store i usually just by clothes that i think are nice and my style from wherever. I prefer pepsi over coke because of the taste. There is a definite taste difference between the two and i just like Pepsi's taste better.

Well our design for our company is coming together quite nicely. But in all honesty there is something about our idea that just isn't clicking with me. It seems like a brilliant idea on paper but in practice it just doesn't seem attainable. The longer and longer I am in this class and have this idea I realize that I am not cut out to create a successful business. I don't know it just seems like my moral is down at this point. But i need to get out of this slump and help motivate my coworkers. It seems like I need some motivation myself.....

Opening Assignment October 24/11
Things like having your products made in sweatshops in third world countries can give your company a bad reputation. Another thing could be something like a scandal can give a company a bad name. Sometimes it isn't necessarily the company's fault. But a lot of the time the do have some hand in it. I think a good P.R. stunt would be something like giving a large amount of money to a charitable organization.

While this guy's intentions are good willed, i think that cutting the costs of energy would harm the economy because energy is such a big market. Not only that but if energy costed less wouldn't more people be consuming more energy? So it would also not harm the environment? If the energy was greener and held less of an impact on the environment i think his idea would hold more premise. I understand his idea but it needs work.

I think he meant that you should ignore your morals in order to achieve success and if you think its right you should do it. If you want to do it you should ignore your morals if you are having second thoughts. I would guess that he has some sort of power and used this saying to get there. i would disagree with him personally because of my strong moral conviction. But hey if he feels that it works good for him, but i will stick to my morals to achieve success.

I wouldn't add time to his sheet because first of all its dishonest and second of all it would not only get him in trouble, it would get me in serious trouble as well and i would most likely lose my job.
I wouldn't take up the offer. It's stealing first of all and second of all it's dishonest again.
I would alert the teller of his mistake.
I was raised on honesty and thats the way i carry my life now that i am responsible for my own actions.

Occupy Wall street was the starting domino in a line or protests. They had their own reasons to protest. This started a chain reaction of protests around the globe. They may or may not have stayed with the same issue as occupy wall street, not that it really matters. Everyone has reasons to protest for their own beliefs. Occupy Wall Street started a revolution that spread like a fever for people standing up and saying they don't like how things are being run.

I think because there is a rich person that is showing empathy with the less fortunate people in society. Its a rare sight to see someone care for those below them in this day and age. It is also unheard of to hear of a rich person say they have too much money. I personally admire that she is doing what she is doing, and I believe that this is the reason the picture is spreading so fast over numerous social networking sites on the internet.

Secrets of success in 8 words, 3 minutes.
Passion, Work, Good, Focus, Push, Serve, Ideas, Persist are the 8 things that lead people to success. With eight words the speaker unlocked what truly leads to people's success. It really clicked and I mean the points were broken down in a simple manner that everyone could understand and feel like they could achieve. You need to be passionate about what you are doing, you need to work at the goal that you set, you need to get good at what you do, you need to focus on the goal you set and the work that you are doing, you need to push through failures and roadblocks, you need to serve others needs, you have to have ideas, and you must persist no matter what.

A good advertisement is one that catches your eye, or makes you laugh and most important, makes you remember the product. Old spice ads are super effective because they stay in your mind they make you think of the product. Bad advertisements are boring, don't make sense, and don't stay with you. Part if being a bad ad is that no one remembers your product so i can't even think of any that would fall under the category of a bad advertisement.

I really agree with this lady. She really brought out some good points. I agree that woman need to take more initiative in the work force to be at the top. I think having more woman on top of the world would be a good thing. For a long time woman haven't had their opinions and ideas heard. Having fresh ideas has the potential to be a great thing for the world. Maybe it would bring some great change to the world. But at the same time it could change nothing and the world would be the same. It's all speculation.

Opening Assignment September 28
Well as far as i could read our name doesn't fall under any of the don't points. "Coffee lovers" tell the consumer what we sell and that we are passionate about our product that we are selling. I suppose it could fall under the category of being too specific if we decided to branch out to selling baked goods or hot chocolate. But I don't really see it as too much of an issue. Maybe something like Forest Cafe would be more functional.

Opening Assignment September 26/11
So the only one of my competitors that i was able to see was Tim Hortons. Sadly my picture of their menu was poor quality. What I do remember of it though is that their coffee was very well priced. i knew before that Tim's had the cheapest coffee for a coffee chain. I plan to be checking out more competition this week. This includes Starbucks second cup and 7 11. Off the top of my head i know that 7 11 will be cheaper than second cup and Starbucks. I am actually curious as to which one out of Second Cup and Starbucks is more expensive.

The speaker's message was very compelling. It was very interesting to learn on how in just 12 years his company reduced greenhouse gas emissions by 83%. That really makes it evident how other businesses and corporations should be able to follow in that company's footsteps and make a change in order to save our planet. I agree with the fact that corporations and enterprises in the business industry are the leaders in destroying the earth so they should be the leaders trying to get us out of the mess that they had a big part of causing.

Well getting lost was quite interesting i must say. I know now that Ms. Keilty doesn't have to best sense of direction. Although i can't blame her for everything. There was a stall on Deerfoot Trail that made traffic a nightmare, because everyone knows that there are 309090897843692 cars on the road at two p.m. right? So she tried a shortcut that ultimately took less time than waiting on deerfoot but still wasn't fast enough to get us to class on time. I will give her props though because if it had been Mr. Stolee driving we still would be at school. I was directed to write about this by Ms. Munroe just incase you forgot :)
